2016 – 2017 SEASON PERFORMANCE SCHEDULE

SATURDAY, NOVEMBER 5 – 7:30 PM
Guillermo Figueroa & Lynn Orchestra; with Anita Castiglione & Paul Posnak
Puerto Rican born, Latin Grammy Nominated Violinist and Conductor Guillermo Figueroa conducts the 30+ member Lynn Philharmonia. Pianists Anita Castiglione and Paul Posnak play Mozart’s Concerto in E-flat for Two Pianos, and Maestro Figueroa plays Cordero’s “Insula” Concerto.

 


SUNDAY, DECEMBER 11 – 3 PM

Vanaver Caravan’s Festivals of Light
“Festivals of Light” is Vanaver Caravan’s holiday production featuring music and dances of Christmas, Chanukah, Kwanzaa, and more. The 12 dancers/musicians hail from four continents, with expertise from clogging to Afro-Brazilian Capoeira to classical jazz and ballet.

 


FRIDAY, JANUARY 20 – 7:30 PM & SATURDAY, JANUARY 21 – 7:30 PM

Charles Castleman’s Family Concert
Charles Castleman began his violin career at age 6, with the Boston Pops Orchestra. Now based at UM, he will play both his Stradivarius and Goffriller 18th century violins. He will compare their tones and ranges for an audience of all ages, at this Family Concert – buy 2 tickets and bring all family children for free! (in the Cor Jesu Chapel at Barry University)

 


SUNDAY, FEBRUARY 26 – 3 PM

Fandango!
Fandango! is Chicago’s most exciting new musical group, playing flute, guitar, violin and cello. A toe-tapping mix of Latin, Sephardic, Balkan and classical sound performed by four virtuosi from Spain, the USA, former Yugoslavia, and the UK who have appeared on the world’s most prestigious stages, to rave international reviews.

 


SUNDAY APRIL 30 – 3 PM

José Serebrier
Today’s most frequently recorded conductor and internationally renowned composer, José Serebrier, conducts the Greater Miami Youth Symphony, a landmark event featuring violinist Huifang Chen; three world premieres including SMC’s special commission by the Maestro, and his arrangement of Bizet’s Carmen Symphony.
